Grande Motte - Tignes

Take the funicular railway followed by the Grande Motte cable car to an altitude of 3,456 metres, where one of the most spectacular panoramic viewpoints in the French Alps awaits. From the panoramic terrace, you can admire breathtaking views of some of the region’s most iconic peaks, including Mont Pourri, Grande Sassière, Grande Casse – the highest summit in the Vanoise Massif at 3,856 metres – and the magnificent Mont Blanc range.

Situated on the edge of the Vanoise National Park, this remarkable high-altitude environment is home to a protected natural reserve renowned for its exceptional alpine wildlife and landscapes. Thanks to its protected status, species such as Alpine ibex, chamois and the impressive bearded vulture can thrive in their natural habitat. It’s the perfect place to pause, take in the scenery and appreciate the tranquillity of the mountains.

For an even more memorable experience, the Grande Motte cable car features rooftop viewing terraces, offering uninterrupted 360-degree views across one of the finest mountain panoramas in the Alps. From this unique vantage point, visitors can enjoy outstanding views of Mont Blanc, the Cime de Bellecôte, the Aiguille de la Grande Sassière and many other surrounding peaks.

Although access to the summit is straightforward, visitors should remember that this is a glacial environment. For your safety, remain within the marked areas and authorised paths at all times, and be sure to wear suitable clothing and equipment, even during the summer months, including warm layers, sunglasses and sun protection.
